Squeeze Box

The accordion player sat on the accordion case as he played, keeping time by tapping the tambourine on his old soft shoe. The park was crowded but no one seem to pay him any mind, except for a toddler whose mother soon whisked her away, not because of the music but the child wandered into pedestrian traffic. Come to the Cabaret was the song he played. It was fun and mawkish, made you both laugh and wince. The way he was dressed in another era he would have a monkey to carry the cup and solicit coins. Coins don’t pay the bills in this era and besides, that was an organ grinder not the squeeze box.
