Monument Veiled

I guess we’re just waiting for the unveiling, unless this is just a base and a plaque has to be added. This seems to be known as either William Mercado Park or William Mercado Garden and is located at Newark & Jersey. I have no idea of when this replacement monument will be dedicated. This was actually one of my first photo blogs – click here – and an early Dislocations witnessing of arborcide. This new park or garden looks quite nice, but seriously, not as nice as the trees. Mercardo was a beloved street vendor who was died as a victim of a street crime. Here's another picture, of stumps being removed and it looks like I got the name wrong. In any event, time marches on and how many times do we get to see a Monument Veiled.

  1. You are right. Twigs are not a replacement for trees that were over 10 years and more old. Again we witness Jersey City never being able to do it right.
