In the hierarchy of cute baby animals, ducklings may rank below kittens and puppies, but I still put them above chickadees and piglets. Babies waddle behind the quacking Mother Mallard. Just above the Liberty Landing Marina, on the Morris Canal Big Basin, an inlet connecting the Morris Canal to the Hudson River. On the muddy knoll is a flock of resting Canadian Geese. Who knows what mix of pollutants and toxins are in the water. The waterfowl live peaceably there with each other, helping nature to prevail.
