Petra Solar Panel/Division Street

According to an article I read last year, in New Jersey, Petra Solar had “put up about 95,000 of the panels with a total generation capacity of 20 megawatts, enough power for 3,250 homes.” At Division & 7th, one of the last of the unadorned poles lost its un-paneled status and has joined the green energy movement. The article reported an outcry by some that the panel’s aesthetics didn’t fit in with the Jersey City ambiance – I guess some feel the panels clash with the tangle of power and phones draped from pole to pole. The panels seemed to just appear. I’ve never seen a panel installed before.  I like that the panels are secured by good old fashioned rope and they still haven’t improved upon the pulley when it comes to hoisting. Now I’m wondering if this might have been a repair and not a new panel. They’re all over town, have been for a couple of years now. All over New Jersey too. This might have been on this corner for a while now; this may have been a repair of some kind. These panels have proliferated that they’re embedded in the landscape, you don’t notice them anymore. Then you begin wondering what it is exactly you’re noticing.
