Old asphalt being stripped off Newark Avenue so it new
asphalt can be laid and spread. If you
go back into the archive you can find similar blog posts. I like to watch
construction and haven’t done a new post on that imagery in a while. Since
before Labor Day, work was being done on this street; some sort of new pipe had
to be laid now they’re doing the re-pave. The top layer of asphalt has been
removed for more than a block, an entire intersection too. No street traffic
allowed, or parking, causing snarls and long detours. It might actually mean nearly
10 minutes to your drive, road rage potential is high. A new condo development
is going up on the same street, probably some of the reason for the new pipes
and this eventual re-pave. After this machine strips off the top soil of
asphalt, the road is ridged, rough; gives the shock absorbers a real work out
in the evening hours, after the workers go home and Newark Avenue is re-opened.
