Pumpkin Murality Duality

Bye, bye Summer… one of these mornings frost will be on this pumpkin, or would be, since it is not going back to the patch. It just might remain frost free until pie time. But the beauty of this moment will forever be captured. Art doesn’t just imitate life, sometimes it replicates life, or least muralizes it. The most famous member of the squash family in a pre-Jack-o-Lantern state is actually part of “food” mural project sponsored by the Jersey City Art School, the final results of which will displayed at the 4th Street Art & Music Festival next month. The subject is food, and various foods are painted by various artists on these banner-width sheets of canvas. The flaps at the ends of the banners have been folded over and sewn shut to create a slot for poles so these moveable murals can be exhibited outdoors. Could not resist this two-shot of the real and the art, the duality of a naked gourd.
